Residents of Hazelwood can pick up a copy of the new brochure prepared by the Hazelwood Police Department (HPD) on the responsibilities of animal ownership in the city. Titled, \u201cA Guide to Hazelwood Animal Ordinances,\u201d the publication helps educate residents on how to be more courteous and respectful neighbors with respect to pets, reminds them of the leash laws in the city, and points out the importance of cleaning up animal waste and preventing pets from disturbing the peace.<\/p>\n
In addition to these topics, the HPD brochure outlines other requirements such as renewing pet licenses on a yearly basis, making sure pets get regular rabies shots, and keeping them confined on the owner\u2019s property. The City\u2019s Dangerous Animal Ordinance, which was enacted in June 1999, is also explained.<\/p>\n
\u201cA Guide to Hazelwood Animal Ordinances\u201d is available in the Public Works Office at Hazelwood City Hall or at the front desk of either Civic Center East or the Hazelwood Community Center. The brochure is also posted on the City\u2019s website at www.hazelwoodmo.org and available for downloading. Go to the City Clerk\u2019s web page and then locate City\u2019s Animal Ordinances menu tab on the right and click it.<\/p>\n
