Fletcher, a 28-year politician, a former Country Club Hills Alderman and former mayor of Ferguson, was elected Ward 2 Councilman last April 6.<\/p>\n<p>From 2005 to 2011 Fletcher served as mayor of Ferguson. He was Chairman of the \u201cI Love Ferguson\u201d campaign, which donated more than $130,000 to businesses damaged during civil unrest in 2014. Fletcher, who retired from AT&amp;T, previously served as Vice President of the CWA Local at AT&amp;T and served on Ferguson\u2019s 4th of July committee and pension board. He spent 16 years as a Democratic committeeman and also served on the Ferguson-Florissant School District\u2019s Board.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWords cannot express our sorrow and pain to lose one of the true champions of the City of Ferguson,\u201d said Ferguson Mayor James Knowles III. \u201cDuring the most difficult time in our city&#8217;s history, Brian worked tirelessly and selflessly to bring people together in the spirit of a shared love for our community,\u201d added Knowles. \u201cOur thoughts and prayers are with the family as they grieve the loss of their loved one.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Fletcher graduated from Riverview High School.
