The recent hot weather and potentially deadly heat indices prompted Police Chief Timothy J. Lowery to remind Florissant residents that the Police Department has partnered with Project Lifesaver to help find individuals who wander off and cannot be located by loved ones.<\/p>\n
The Project Lifesaver agency provides the knowledge and equipment to law enforcement to track and locate persons enrolled in the program who have Alzheimer\u2019s disease, autism, Down syndrome, dementia, or other cognitive conditions. Using this equipment, law enforcement can quickly recover the lost individual, saving countless man-hours and, most importantly, decreasing the risk of a tragic outcome.<\/p>\n
Interested individuals can contact Project Lifesaver directly at 757-546-5502 or go to their website at HYPERLINK “http:\/\/www.projectlifesaver.org\/” http:\/\/www.projectlifesaver.org\/ to enroll in the program. The cost to enroll is $95 for the transmitter and related equipment and a $25 monthly fee.<\/p>\n
If the enrolled person goes missing, the caregiver must immediately notify the Florissant Police Department so a search can begin.<\/p>\n
