In response to the passage of Proposition P and the City of Hazelwood\u2019s efforts to restore many of its services and programs now that the additional revenue stream has resolved the budget deficit, the Parks and Recreation Division is bringing back concerts at Truman Park with its \u201c2015 Summer Concert Series.\u201d Free admission will be offered for three different concerts performed under the Truman Park Gazebo this summer on Saturday nights from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. A fourth concert featuring food trucks and a food donation drive for the TEAM Food Pantry will be held at Howdershell Park on July 21 from 6 to 9 p.m.<\/p>\n
\u201cRight after we received the good news about the passage of Proposition P, we put together a list of summertime activities we could immediately execute for the City Council\u2019s approval which would restore many of the quality programs our residents enjoy doing,\u201d said Hazelwood Community Center facility manager Pam Reynolds. \u201cThe summer concert series at Truman Park was one of them. Popularity of our Truman Park concerts has grown due to the variety of musical styles and the quality entertainment they offer at no cost.\u201d<\/p>\n
Since the Hazelwood Parks and Recreation Division waited on the outcome of the April 7th<\/sup> municipal election on Proposition P, they had a late jump on booking bands for this summer. But they were able to lock in three local bands to perform outdoor concerts at Truman Park on June 20, Aug.1st<\/sup>, and Aug. 22nd<\/sup>. And, a fourth concert on July 21 at Howdershell Park.. In case of rain, the concert performances will be held at the Hazelwood Community Center. The schedule is as follows:<\/p>\n \u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 June 20 SHATTERED EDGE<\/strong> \u2013 This is an exciting, new Americana rock band fronted by a female singer who performs song hits from these musical genres: Rock; Alternative; Country; R&B; Pop; and Folk. Band members include Sarah Renee (Lead Vocals), Steve Murphy (Bass\/Vocals), Norm Frech (Lead Guitar\/Vocals), and Tony Buffa (Drums\/Vocals.) They perform on a regular basis at these bar\/club venues: Rock Road Saloon; The Way Out; Sky Music Lounge; Eagles Club; and Jam House. Truman Park Gazebo, 7 p.m. to 9 p.m.<\/p>\n July 21\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 THE RETRO BAND<\/strong> \u2013 A professional three-piece high-energy band with a play the song hits made famous by Elvis Presley, Johnny Cash, Carl Perkins, Aug. 1\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 TnT & THE HARD DRIVES<\/strong> \u2013 This band duo plays an eclectic mix of funk, r&b, rock, jazz, and unplugged. Their up tempo arrangements and vocal stylings create an explosive energy that rocks the house and leaves audiences craving for more. Band members include Tim (Guitar\/Vocals) and Tom (Drums\/Vocals). Venues where they frequently perform include the following: Boathouse \u2013 Forest Park; Patrick\u2019s Restaurant & Sports Bar; Bartolino\u2019s Osteria; Hwy. 61 Roadhouse; and Kirkwood Station. The Bandits\u2019 repertoire includes blues, rock and country soul. They perform everything from Queen and The Eagles to the Allman Brothers and Creedence Clearwater Revival just to name a few. Original members include Matthew O\u2019Toole (Guitar\/Vocals) and Scott Keller (Guitar\/Vocals) who have joined forces with Bob Stuckey (Dobro\/Banjo\/Harmonica\/Vocals), John Young (Bass\/Vocals) and Jon Eckert (Drums\/Vocals).
