The Duchesne Knights of Columbus grounds are reserved for families throughout the Valley of Flowers Festival. Those under age 18 years must be accompanied by an adult. The grounds, located on Washington Street between St. Ferdinand and Lindbergh Blvd. (N. Hwy 67), next to St. Ferdinand Shrine, will host rides, games, and food vendors, including the Knights barbecue.<\/p>\n
Many of the rides are geared toward younger children, but the grand Ferris Wheel is a treat for everyone. On Friday night only, all the rides require just one ticket.<\/p>\n
The beer and wine garden will be open Friday, Saturday, and Sunday. In addition, the Knights will serve barbecued ribs, pork steaks, brats, hot dogs, and hamburgers throughout the three days of the Festival.\u00a0\u00a0 Booths sponsored by local not-for-profit organizations will also offer a variety of festival foods and games.<\/p>\n
After the parade on Sunday, the Valley of Flowers Queen and her court will be crowned at the Knights of Columbus pavilion. In addition, awards will be presented to winners of the various Valley of Flowers parade categories and to the winner of the Pretty Baby photo contest. Afterward the Knights will conduct a Charity Raffle, with all proceeds going to help needy persons in the Florissant area.<\/p>\n
The Knights of Columbus grounds are open on Friday from 4 to 10 p.m., on Saturday from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m., and on Sunday from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. Ample parking is available in the field on St. Charles Street or at St. Ferdinand Park. A path from the parking areas leads directly to the Festival grounds. Parking will not be allowed at the local shopping center lots, Dierbergs, and Florissant Meadows.<\/p>\n
To maintain a family-friendly, safe environment, the festival committee has implemented changes to manage the crowds and traffic flow in and around the festival grounds. In addition to the no-parking policy for the local shopping area lots, the plan includes temporary traffic regulations to prevent festival traffic from interfering with local businesses, a well-enforced dress code, and enhanced overall security.
