The council heard requests for two special use permit transfers at Monday\u2019s council meeting.<\/p>\n<p>In the first case, Kevin McDaniel requested a transfer of the permit from Old Tymers Carry-out Kitchen to Bootsy\u2019s BBQ, Burgers and More for the restaurant at 12675 New Halls Ferry Rd.<\/p>\n<p>Councilman Mark Schmidt said he had some questions about outdoor cooking. Originally, he said, McDaniel was going to have outdoor barbecue pits, but the current plan does not include them.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt\u2019s primarily a burger restaurant that has barbecue too,\u201d McDaniel said. He plans on using two vertical electric smokers for the first year. He said he is working with a barbecue pit manufacturer to get new pits. Schmidt told him that if he did start cooking outdoors, he would need to go before the city\u2019s Planning and Zoning Commission for approval.<\/p>\n<p>The restaurant will initially be open from Tuesday through Sunday from 11 a.m. \u2013 10 p.m. There is a nightclub space next door. \u201cI\u2019ll probably stay open until 1 a.m. on Friday and Saturday when the nightclub opens,\u201d McDaniel said. The council approved the transfer with the stipulation that no outdoor cooking is allowed.<\/p>\n<p>The council also discussed a request to transfer a special use permit from Gateway Grilled Subs to Nephew\u2019s Grill for a restaurant at 1156 Shackelford Rd.<\/p>\n<p>Councilman Tim Jones requested approval for the transfer. \u201cI met her,\u201d he said of the owner, \u201cand she seems to know what she\u2019s doing.
