The Ferguson-Florissant School District has named Erin King as its 2015 Teacher of the Year and Kathy Hilliker as the Support Employee of the Year.<\/p>\n

Erin King<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

King, a math teacher, department chair and alumnae of McCluer North High School, has worked in the district for 10 years.\u00a0She was selected for the honor because of her many contributions to education. She instills a love of learning to all her students by providing them with instruction tailored to individual needs and learning styles.\u00a0King\u2019s classroom is a wildly creative environment in which her students are taught to become risk-takers and problem solvers, capable of critical analysis.<\/p>\n

\u201cMs. King is a student-first teacher who is a top-notch representative of all the great teaching that occurs in the Ferguson-Florissant School District,\u201d said Lawrence Larrew, acting superintendent.<\/p>\n

Kathy Hilliker<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

Hilliker, an office manager at Lee-Hamilton Elementary School, is a 17-year employee of the district.\u00a0She consistently goes above and beyond office manager expectations, mentoring students, developing and nurturing relationships with families and working hard to support all staff members at Lee-Hamilton.\u00a0Hilliker\u2019s nomination stated, \u201cshe juggles all of the demands of a busy office in an elementary school seamlessly.\u201d<\/p>\n

Both employees were recently surprised at their respective work sites with the announcement of their recognition.\u00a0They were also recognized at the March 11 Board of Education meeting.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
