At last year\u2019s event, Mayors\u2019 Shamrock Ball Event Chairman Chief Carl Wolf (ret.) made the announcement that Bellefontaine Neighbors would be joining the cities of Black Jack, Ferguson, Florissant and Hazelwood as a host city for the 2015 event. The city of Bellefontaine Neighbors is the newest municipality hosting this year\u2019s 8th Annual Mayors\u2019 Shamrock Ball on Saturday, March 7, at Garden Villas North, 4505 Parker Road, from 6:30- 11 p.m. Bellefontaine Neighbors joins four other hosting cities (Black Jack, Ferguson, Florissant and Hazelwood) in making this formal green tie event the biggest charitable social gala in North St. Louis County.<\/p>\n

All proceeds generated from this event benefit Valley Industries Sheltered Workshop, a non-profit 501(c)(3) organization tasked with the mission of providing dignified, meaningful employment for adults with developmental disabilities. Last year\u2019s event sold out at 400 tickets, and funds raised topped $37,000, which was $12,000 more than the previous year. The event attracted over 120 different event sponsors and donors. Of that total, 60 of them were cash sponsors.<\/p>\n

\u201cWith the addition of Bellefontaine Neighbors as a host city, we hope this will encourage more North County businesses and residents to come out and support this worthy cause,\u201d said Chief Carl Wolf (ret.), Shamrock Ball Event Chairperson. \u201cIt\u2019s a great way for local companies to enhance their brand image with an event sponsorship. Plus, it gives couples an opportunity to dress up and step out on the town for an evening of fun entertainment.\u201d<\/p>\n

Mayor Robert J. Doerr of Bellefontaine Neighbors will be joining Mayor Norman C. McCourt of Black Jack, Mayor James W. Knowles III of Ferguson, Mayor Thomas P. Schneider of Florissant, and Mayor Matthew G. Robinson of Hazelwood as event hosts. Each of them will be wearing black tuxedos with green ties, sashes and cummerbunds, as well as black top hats as they stand near the front entrance greeting guests at the event.<\/p>\n

Event Sponsorship and Tickets<\/strong><\/p>\n

The Mayors\u2019 Shamrock Ball offers sponsorship packages to local businesses, organizations and individuals that want to be recognized as active corporate citizens giving something back to the community. Different sponsorships are available at the following levels: Event Sponsor – $5,000; Emerald Sponsor – $2,500; Pot of Gold Sponsor – $1,000; Leprechaun Sponsor – $600; and Shamrock Sponsor – $250. Individual tickets can be purchased for $125 each per person. Only 400 tickets are available. The cost includes a full evening of great food, open bar, attendance prizes, raffle drawings, \u201clive\u201d auction, and lively dance music.<\/p>\n

Buffet-Style Dining<\/strong><\/p>\n

The dining hall at Garden Villas North will be set up much like a buffet on a cruise ship. In addition to festive decorations and beautifully carved ice sculptures, food stations manned by several popular restaurants and catering services will be scattered throughout the room and second floor balcony.<\/p>\n

Restaurants will be serving their signature food dishes, hors d\u2019oeuvres, pastries and desserts for most of the evening. Some of the participating food vendors include these popular restaurants and catering services: Catering to You, Helfers, Mattingly\u2019s Bar & Grill, Pasta House, and Garden Villas North.<\/p>\n

In addition to offering two open bars on the first and second floor, Delmar Gardens and Garden Villas North will be stocking and staffing a martini bar, a margarita bar, and a candy bar. Glazer\u2019s will be providing an assortment of wines for the wine bar as well.<\/p>\n

Live Auction\/Attendance Prizes\/Raffle Drawings<\/strong><\/p>\n

Since the \u201clive\u201d auction went so well last year, event organizers are planning to hold it again this year. Prize packages include a week-long vacation trip to a luxury golf resort in Florida, a skydiving package, a St. Louis Cardinals \u201cNight at Busch Stadium\u201d package, a puppy donated by James Mitchell (partnering with Act Now Rescue), and a Hometown Stay-cation package full of sporting event tickets, theater tickets and restaurant gift certificates.<\/p>\n

Other attendance prizes will be randomly given away throughout the night to guests at the event. Plus, there will be raffle drawings for a Treasure Chest of Happiness (valued at $500), a 50\u201d HD flat-screen TV, and an elegant emerald jewelry piece donated by Henefer\u2019s Jewelers of Florissant.<\/p>\n

Bob Kuban Band Returns, Irish Dancers<\/strong><\/p>\n

For the eighth straight year in a row, the popular Bob Kuban Band will provide lively music for the evening. Since blazing his way to the top of the charts with his hit song \u201cThe Cheater\u201d in 1966, Kuban has been entertaining thousands of audiences with high-energy music that appeals to people of all ages.<\/p>\n

In addition, students from The Clark Academy of Irish Dance will be on hand to kick-off the night\u2019s festivities with an amazing \u201cRiver Dance\u201d style performance. Based in South St. Louis, this dance studio offers lessons for children and adults ages 4 and up interested in recreational and competitive Irish Dance. Many of these dancers perform in public at festivals, cultural celebrations, private events, St. Patrick\u2019s Day Parades, and on TV shows.<\/p>\n

Crowning of the King and Queen<\/strong><\/p>\n

Each year, Valley Industries selects both a male and female Worker of the Year from a pool of employee candidates who were monthly winners. This year\u2019s honorees are Jim Lee and Yolanda Terry. They will be crowned as the King and Queen of the 8th Annual Mayors\u2019 Shamrock Ball. Their first act as royalty will be to cut the official Mayors\u2019 Shamrock Ball cake.<\/p>\n
