Family and friends of Rosemary Davison gathered on rue St. Francois last week to unveil the Walk Through History plaque dedicated to her. After the unveiling, many in the group attended the St. Rose Philippine Duchesne Feast Day Mass at the Shrine.<\/p>\n
Davison was committed to preserving historically significant homes and buildings that helped shape Florissant. She was on the Board of Freeholders that formed our current city charter, was city clerk from 1963-1979 and was a founding member of the Missouri Heritage Trust, Florissant Valley Historical Society, Friends of Old St. Ferdinand, Heritage Foundation, and Historic Florissant, Inc. For years she was a columnist for the Florissant Valley Reporter and wrote several books including \u201cFlorissant, Missouri\u201d published in 2002.<\/p>\n
She earned a law degree from City College and was admitted to the Missouri Bar and also became a deputy US Marshal. Davison was committed to peace and justice and other social issues and served on the executive committee of the North County Churches United for Racial Harmony and Justice. She was the ultimate example of volunteerism helping everyone she could, from tutoring young children to seeing someone out to the other side gently with hospice. She was a blessed Associate of the Sisters of Divine Providence.<\/p>\n
After the plaque dedication everyone celebrated St. Philippine\u2019s feast with celebrant Bishop Hermann. Mass began at 7 p.m. with a reception that followed in the Old Schoolhouse. Tours of the Shrine were available after Mass. Rosemary collaborated with former Mayor Robert Lowery to create our Walk through History program.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
