The Florissant City Council held two public hearings Monday night. In the first, Michael Shea came before the council to request permission to put an addition on the Jack in the Box at 4595 Washington St. (at the corner of Washington St. and Dunn Rd).<\/p>\n

The addition will be approximately 298 square feet, Shea said. It will be used for additional storage and a walk-in freezer. \u201cThe restaurant is lacking storage now,\u201d Shea said.<\/p>\n

In addition, the restaurant\u2019s exterior will be updated. \u201cThe existing mansard roof will be removed,\u201d Shea said. \u201cNew signage and color scheme will be added.\u201d Shea said that Jack in the Box was updating all restaurants.<\/p>\n

The council held a first reading on the bill.<\/p>\n

In the second public hearing, Joseph Doyle came before the council to request a special permit for his business, Specialty Trim, at the corner of Lindbergh and Lafayette.<\/p>\n

Doyle is currently operating his business out of the Lindbergh side of the building, with a Lindbergh address. He is expanding to the back of the building, which has a Lafayette address, so he needs a new special use permit.<\/p>\n

Councilman Mark Schmidt said that this was a clerical item. \u201cThere are two bays on the Lindbergh side,\u201d he said, \u201cand one bay and an office on Lafayette.\u201d<\/p>\n

Councilman Tim Jones spoke in favor of Doyle\u2019s business. \u201cI\u2019m glad you\u2019re not moving out of the city.\u201d<\/p>\n

Councilman Keith Schildroth asked if Doyle was responsible for the flowers in front of the building. Doyle said he was. The council passed the bill approving the special use permit.<\/p>\n

In other matters , the council:<\/p>\n

\u2022 approved a request for a full package liquor license for Jimmie L. Brown doing business as Cut Rate Enterprises LLC at 2162-64 N. Waterford.<\/p>\n

\u2022\u00a0approved a request by Matthew and Maria Byers to keep four hens at their home on Beta Drive.<\/p>\n

\u2022\u00a0held a first reading on a bill that would appropriate $325,000 from the Park Improvement Fund for the replacement of ball fields lights and light poles on fields 1 and 2 in St. Ferdinand Park.<\/p>\n
