Restaurant have seen upturns in business<\/b><\/em><\/span><\/p>\n

“I Love Ferguson” Tee-shirts have been selling briskly in the downtown district.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

The recent tragic events and the subsequent turmoil\u00a0taking place in the neighborhoods of southeastern Ferguson have had some, but not a great deal, of negative effect on businesses in the historic downtown Ferguson area on South Florissant Road.<\/p>\n

In fact, places such as Cose Dolci Bakery, Cathy’s\u00a0Kitchen and Ferguson Brewing Company have been holding their own, and even seeing an uptick in business, some resulting from customers wanting to show their support of these businesses, some from the influx of national media and others flocking to the area to cover the story of the death of Michael Brown and the following protests and riots.<\/p>\n

Mike \u00a0Lonero, owner of four restaurant businesses in the area, said “we just keep opening the doors, things are going well, people keep coming in.” Robin Shively, owner of Corner Frame and Gallery near the Ferguson Library said, “I don’t get as much shopping traffic as before, but there have been no problems.”<\/p>\n

There has been a reported small downturn in business\u00a0later in the evenings in the downtown district. But most of the difficulty has been contained\u00a0\u00a0 to the east, along West Florissant Road, south of Chambers Road and north of Lucas Hunt Road.<\/p>\n

Hopes for a resolution of conflicts help fuel the energy of\u00a0all in Ferguson, as well as the hope of a return to near-normal routines for families and children as the Ferguson-Florissant School District started classes on Monday Aug. 25.<\/p>\n

In the meantime, as grand jury proceedings and the\u00a0pursuit of definitive answers surrounding the facts of the shooting continue, life goes on for those who live, work and pursue their daily tasks in the Ferguson area.<\/p>\n
