\"Ruby-Curry<\/a>Ruby Curry has been appointed\u00a0interim president of St. Louis Community College- Florissant Valley. She will replace Marcia Pfeiffer, Ph.D., who is retiring in June.<\/div>\n

\u201cI\u2019m humbled and very appreciative of the opportunity,\u201d said Curry, who has been with the college for the past 38 years.<\/p>\n

She was hired in 1976 as an instructor in the Physical Education department and coach for the women\u2019s basketball and softball teams. In 1993, she resigned from coaching and became chair of the\u00a0Physical Education department. In 2001, she was appointed as dean of the Business and Human Development division.<\/p>\n

In 1990, Curry\u00a0was elected as the Women\u2019s Region XVI Director for the National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) and served until 2008. She was the assistant coach of the NJCAA women\u2019s all-star basketball team and operational staff member for the 1995 World Winter University Games in Spain.<\/p>\n

In 2006, Curry\u00a0was recognized for her leadership and contributions to the sport and was inducted into the NJCAA Women\u2019s Basketball Hall of Fame. In 2008 she received\u00a0the NJCAA Service Award.<\/p>\n

Other leadership roles have included Region VII director for the American Association for Women in Community Colleges (AAWCC) and a charter member of the St. Louis chapter.<\/p>\n

Curry received her bachelor’s degree in\u00a0physical education and health from Central Missouri State University, and her master’s degree in education-physical education\u00a0from Eastern Illinois University.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
