Want to learn how to reduce your carbon footprint? St. Louis Community College-Florissant Valley will host the eighth annual Green Fair, 10:30 a.m.-1 p.m. Wednesday, April 2, in the quad area of the campus, 3400 Pershall Road.<\/p>\n
In the event of inclement weather, the Green Fair will take place in the Student Center Multipurpose Room.<\/p>\n
Florissant Valley\u2019s Green Fair commemorates Earth Day. Since its inception, the event has grown each year with more participants. The goal of the fair is to make the community aware of the many \u201cgreen\u201d options available, including organic and community gardens, cleaning products, electric vehicles and more.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe fair will host a wide variety of vendors who will sell eco-friendly products and educate us on how to be better stewards of our planet,\u201d said Brian Bozek, math professor and Sustainability Committee adviser at Florissant Valley.<\/p>\n
Vendors for this year\u2019s fair include the Wildlife Rehab Clinic, Goeke Produce, Healthy Planet, Missouri Conservation Department, Isabee\u2019s Beekeeping, Gardeners of Florissant, Natural Fibers, Whole Foods, Earth Ways Center, Ferguson Bike Shop, Leftovers, St. Louis County Waste, Rides Finders, Always Green, Ferguson Farmers\u2019 Market, Hanley Fold Farm, Organo Gold Coffee, Shetland Sheep and Plowsharing Crafts. The Green Strum Band will perform at the event.<\/p>\n
In October 2008, Marcia Pfeiffer, Florissant Valley president, signed the Association for the Advancement of Sustainability in Higher Education President\u2019s Climate Commitment. This commitment dictates that colleges and universities must exercise leadership in their communities and throughout society by modeling ways to eliminate global warming emissions, and by initiating the development of a comprehensive plan to achieve climate neutrality. The Green Fair is just one of several ways Florissant Valley seeks to live up to that commitment.<\/p>\n
