{"id":12159,"date":"2014-03-05T14:33:33","date_gmt":"2014-03-05T20:33:33","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.flovalleynews.com\/?p=12159"},"modified":"2014-03-05T14:33:33","modified_gmt":"2014-03-05T20:33:33","slug":"the-dining-divas-feel-home-sweet-home-at-bella-vino-in-st-charles","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/flovalleynews.com\/?p=12159","title":{"rendered":"The Dining Divas Feel Home Sweet  Home at Bella Vino in St. Charles"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><em><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.flovalleynews.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/11\/Lisa-Kampeter-photo-revised1.jpg\"><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft size-thumbnail wp-image-11653 lazyload\" alt=\"**Lisa Kampeter photo** revised\" data-src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.flovalleynews.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/11\/Lisa-Kampeter-photo-revised1-121x150.jpg?resize=121%2C150\" width=\"121\" height=\"150\" src=\"data:image\/svg+xml;base64,PHN2ZyB3aWR0aD0iMSIgaGVpZ2h0PSIxIiB4bWxucz0iaHR0cDovL3d3dy53My5vcmcvMjAwMC9zdmciPjwvc3ZnPg==\" style=\"--smush-placeholder-width: 121px; --smush-placeholder-aspect-ratio: 121\/150;\" \/><\/a>The Dining Divas<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n<p><strong>By Lisa Kampeter<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>It doesn\u2019t happen often.\u00a0 Before the Dining Divas even finished their meals, the ladies were already talking about a return visit.\u00a0 One Organized Diva had her next order already decided.\u00a0 Another Aggressive Diva had even requested several of the restaurant\u2019s business cards to share with people she knew.\u00a0 We all had a great time, and, all agreed, Bella Vino is fantastico.<\/p>\n<p>New to historic Main Street in St. Charles, Bella Vino already fits right in.\u00a0 On this cool winter weeknight, the blazing flames from the fire pit on the front patio invited passersby to warm up and get cozy with a glass of wine.\u00a0 Once you step inside, the welcoming ambiance and friendly atmosphere makes you feel like you\u2019re stepping into someone\u2019s home, so much so that you may consider grabbing one of the adorable throw pillows and getting comfy on one of the bench seats.\u00a0 Thankfully, not even the Ornery Diva considered doing it.<\/p>\n<p>Because it was the \u201cmonth of love\u201d, leave it to the Creative Diva to present the Senior Single Diva with a gift of \u201cpick-up lines\u201d.\u00a0 She also shared the love by spreading conversation hearts all over our table.\u00a0 The Candy-Loving Diva immediately grabbed these \u201ccandy\u201d hearts to pop them in her mouth.\u00a0 She didn\u2019t realize the \u201ccandy\u201d was actually rubber, as in, an eraser.<\/p>\n<p>Bella Vino offers a tapas menu.\u00a0 A couple Divas have struggled with the concept of the smaller dishes, but the rest of us believe their true struggle is sharing.\u00a0 Typically with tapas, you order several of the small plates, enjoying a taste of many menu items, and then you share them with others in the group.\u00a0 For some, they worry they\u2019ll leave hungry.\u00a0 For those that understand the concept of tapas, they savor the tastes and appreciate not being stuffed afterward.<\/p>\n<p>This night, there was an overload of sharing.\u00a0 I\u2019m not really sure what we didn\u2019t try.\u00a0\u00a0 We tried some Prosecco for \u201cWine Wednesday\u201d (which means half price wine bottles!)\u00a0 We tried the flatbreads, a fabulous choice for the pickier Divas.\u00a0 Several of us tried the Camponelle, a light pasta with shrimp, chicken, mushrooms, onions, tomatoes, and olive oil.\u00a0 We all loved it.\u00a0 One of the Divas requested it with a little red sauce, and they happily accommodated her.<\/p>\n<p>The Orrichiette Tanti Bacci is another pasta dish with a beefy tomato sauce and a little kick, just the way we like it.\u00a0 The Calamari with Saffron Lemon Aioli was a delicious surprise.\u00a0 The aioli was a nice complement without being overpoweringly lemon tasting.\u00a0\u00a0 And the calamari itself was not at all standard.\u00a0 They were large strips lightly breaded and fried to perfection. The Crab Stuffed Bella Mushroom Caps were another surprise, chocked full of crab meat.<\/p>\n<p>If you\u2019re in need of a little comfort, the Pimento Mac and Cheese is the answer.\u00a0 The cracker crust and pimentos is such a welcome twist to this adult version of the traditional classic.<\/p>\n<p>Before dinner, the Sweet Tooth Diva told everyone to save room for dessert, especially the Gooey Butter Cake, even though she\u2019s typically not a fan of it.\u00a0 The entire table agreed that this was incredible.\u00a0 Slightly warm and served with cinnamon ice cream.\u00a0\u00a0 What a great way to end their meal!<\/p>\n<p>On the downside, more than once did we feel the need to apologize to our neighboring diners for our loudness.\u00a0 Bella Vino is extremely cozy, and for situations like ours, with a bigger group, we probably should have been seated in an area outside of the main dining area.\u00a0 We hoped we didn\u2019t offend anyone, but like I said, when you enter Bella Vino, you feel like you\u2019re entering someone\u2019s home.\u00a0 Perhaps we did take that to the extreme.\u00a0\u00a0 After all, several of the Divas are Italians, and if you\u2019ve ever been to dinner at their homes, you\u2019d know what it\u2019s like.\u00a0 Loud!<\/p>\n<p>But what a compliment it is when you feel like you\u2019re right at home in a restaurant.\u00a0 Bella Vino\u2019s atmosphere and wait staff makes you feel that way.\u00a0 And Bella Vino is right at home on Main Street St. Charles.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The Dining Divas By Lisa
