City Hall will be lit up for Christmas officially on Dec. 7 at the Tree Lighting ceremony at 5 p.m.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

Music, Tree Lighting, Santa Claus, Shopping<\/strong><\/p>\n<\/div>\n

This\u00a0 Saturday, Dec. 7 is the day of the annual \u201cChristmas in Old Town Florissant\u201d.\u00a0 The festivities begin at 2 p.m. in the Council Chambers at City Hall with seasonal music. The Tree Lighting at 5 p.m. concludes the day when Mayor Tom Schneider flips the switch<\/p>\n

Santa Claus will arrive at city hall at 2:15 and welcomes all children to visit him. (There is a charge to have your picture with Santa).<\/p>\n

While waiting to tell all your wishes for Christmas to the Big Man, you can make a craft (sponsored by the St. Louis County Library), decorate a cookie, and have your face painted by the Valley of Flowers Queen and her maids. Cookie the Clown will make your very own balloon sculpture. There will be Christmas stories and seasonal music, and cookies and cocoa.<\/p>\n

Shops will be open along rue St. Francois. They include: Brief Reflections, Stems Florist, Sandie\u2019s Interiors, Blue Moon Stencil Shop, Florissant Old Town Marketplace Childrens Boutique, Village of the Blue Rose, Korte\u2019s Frames and Gifts, Dooley\u2019s Florist and Gifts, and Henefer\u2019s Jewelers. City Diner, de.lish, Helfer\u2019s Deli, Old Town Donuts and Hendel\u2019s Market Caf\u00e9 will also be open.<\/p>\n

At 5 p.m., Mayor Tom Schneider and 2013 Valley of Flowers Queen Kelly Mahaffy and her court will flip the switch to light up Florissant\u2019s Christmas Tree.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
