For over 40 years, the Soroptimist of\u00a0Greater St. Louis, a small, totally women based, volunteer organization has been raising funds to give\u00a0 to organizations and individuals that primarily serve women and children\u2019s needs.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

The primary fund-raiser each year is the fashion show, will be celebrating its 40th<\/sup> year on Saturday Nov., 2 with a luncheon\/show at Orlando Gardens in Maryland Heights.<\/p>\n

\u201cOften the unforgotten smaller agencies\u00a0and the most underfunded groups, apply for and receive our\u00a0 contributions,\u201d says Judy Bick, past president and this year\u2019s Fashion Show Committee chairman. \u201cWe plan four\u00a0 fund raising events a year, and our Fashion Show is usually attended by hundreds of supportive friends of Soroptimist.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cEach year, the request of individuals and organizations in need grows, and this year is no exception\u201d said says Kim Brannan, director and past president.\u00a0 Last year the Soroptimist supported over 20 different agencies and individuals with grants, awards and scholarships.\u00a0 \u201cWe are proud that this small group of 50 small business owners, community leaders, teachers, social workers and corporate women in the St. Louis Metro area share of their time and talents to work really hard support the organization\u2019s mission!\u201d said Brannan.<\/p>\n

\u201cOur members are very, very busy\u00a0successful women who still find time to give of themselves to our\u00a0 very needed and worthwhile organization,\u201d said Beverly Girardier, current president\/ Tickets for the show and luncheon are $25 a person event. \u201cWe will show fashions through the decades, have a fabulous lunch at Orlando Gardens, in Maryland Heights, win prizes and bid on\u00a0 great Gift Baskets.\u201d The doors open at 11:30 with lunch\u00a0 served at 12:30. Soroptimist is a global women\u2019s organization whose members volunteer to improve the lives of women\u00a0 and girls through programs leading to social and economic empowerment.
