The Hazelwood City Council unanimously approved a proclamation declaring the week of May 12 \u2013 May 18, 2013, as \u201cPolice Week 2013.\u201d The proclamation pays tribute to the outstanding performance of the Hazelwood Police Department (HPD) in securing the area where the EF2 tornado hit on April 10.<\/p>\n
At the same Council meeting, Hazelwood Police Chief Gregg Hall announced the promotions of Lt. James F. Hudanick to the rank of Captain, Lt. Ken Jewson to the rank of Captain, and Capt. Henry Mansker to the rank of Major.<\/p>\n
\u201cIt is an honor and privilege for me to serve with such an impressive group of self-disciplined professionals.\u00a0 These fine men and women are the people who make this an exceptional organization and one of the most respected law enforcement agencies in Missouri,” Hall said.<\/p>\n
Hall pointed out that police officers worked 12-hour shifts for several days to ensure residents and their properties remained safe.\u00a0 Plus, HPD officers constantly patrolled the affected area with squad cars and on foot.<\/p>\n
