This proposition, if passed, would increase the sales tax in St. Louis and St. Louis county by 3\/16 of a cent for retail purchases, excluding food and prescription drugs.<\/p>\n<p>The money raised by the tax would be split three ways. 30% would help fund a renovation of the Gateway Arch grounds. Additional funding for the Arch Grounds will be sought from private donors. 30% would go to the Great Rivers Greenway District for regional trails. The district estimates this could fund up to 130 miles of trails.\u00a0 40% would go to St. Louis County for local and county park improvements.<\/p>\n<p>Voters in both the city and county must pass the proposition for the tax to go into effect.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>St. Louis City and St. Louis County voters are also voting on Proposition P.
